Saskatchewan is one of Canada's Prairie provinces with a documented labour shortage in healthcare, agriculture, engineering, technology and trades. The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is one of the most accessible provincial nominee programs for African applicants - particularly those with a connection to the province through study or work.

Why Saskatchewan matters for African applicants

The 600-point advantage: A provincial nomination from Saskatchewan adds 600 CRS points to your Express Entry profile. Most Express Entry draws have cut-offs between 470 and 550 points. With 600 additional points, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next draw regardless of your base CRS score.

Lower base CRS requirement: Because the provincial nomination provides the 600-point boost, you do not need a high base CRS score to get Canadian PR through the SINP. Applicants with CRS scores of 300-400 who would never receive an ITA in a general draw can receive one through the SINP.

  2. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the SINP
  3. Receive a nomination from Saskatchewan
  4. Accept the nomination and update your Express Entry profile (+600 CRS points)
  5. Receive an ITA from IRCC in the next draw
  6. Submit a complete application for permanent residence

Stream 2 - International Skilled Worker: Occupations In-Demand

Who it is for: Skilled workers with a job offer from a Saskatchewan employer in an in-demand occupation.

Requirements:

  • Job offer from a Saskatchewan employer
  • Work experience in an eligible occupation
  • Language proficiency (CLB 4 minimum for most occupations)
  • Sufficient funds

Does not require an Express Entry profile - this stream operates outside the Express Entry system.

Stream 3 - International Graduate

Who it is for: Graduates of Saskatchewan post-secondary institutions (including the University of Saskatchewan).

Requirements:

  • Degree, diploma or certificate from a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution

Why this matters for USask graduates: If you studied at the University of Saskatchewan and want to stay in Canada, the International Graduate stream is specifically designed for you. It has lower requirements than the skilled worker streams.
