Frequently Asked Questions

How Global Route works, what the data means, and how to use the tools.

About Global Route

What is Global Route?

Global Route is an evidence-gated mobility platform for African passport holders. It organises migration pathways, official source trails and structured requirements for students, professionals and business owners across 26 countries. It does not claim approval rates or total costs where reliable primary-source evidence is unavailable.

Is it free to use?

Yes. All pathway data, the route finder and the calculator are free. The platform is supported by consent-gated advertising. You can control your ad consent preferences at any time using the privacy settings button.

Who is Global Route for?

African students, professionals and business owners planning international mobility. The platform is built specifically for African passport holders — not adapted from tools designed for other audiences.

The data

Why are approval rates missing?

Most immigration authorities do not publish approval rates broken down by applicant nationality. Where figures circulate online, they are typically unverified community estimates. Global Route does not publish approval rates without a primary-source evidence record and a defensible methodology. Showing "not published" is more honest than showing a fabricated number.

Why are costs and timelines shown as unavailable for some countries?

Aggregate cost and timeline fields remain null where field-level primary-source evidence is missing. A planning cost requires knowing the exact fees, funds thresholds and living costs for a specific pathway — not a rough estimate. Where that evidence exists, it is shown. Where it does not, the field is left blank rather than filled with a guess.

What does "research required" mean for a pathway?

A pathway marked research_required has a documented blocker that prevents it from being published. The blocker is either a genuine evidence gap (no high-confidence primary source exists), a structural issue (the pathway is an umbrella superseded by specific child routes), or a geopolitical access issue (e.g. Russia — banking restrictions and reduced embassy capacity make the pathway unverifiable for African applicants). Research-required pathways are not shown in route results.

How current is the data?

Evidence records are dated. Each structured requirement shows the date it was sourced and the official URL. The dataset baseline is September 2026. Requirements change — always confirm current thresholds with the official authority before applying.

Using the tools

Which country is best for me?

Use Find My Route to filter pathways by goal (study or work). The tool returns evidence-gated matches — pathways where the official requirements are documented. It is a planning aid, not an eligibility decision. The best country depends on your specific qualifications, funds, and goals.

How accurate is the budget calculator?

The calculator is a planning aid only. It uses evidence-gated cost data where available. For most countries, aggregate cost fields are currently null — meaning the calculator can show you pathways within a goal category but cannot rank them by verified total cost. Use it to explore options, not to make financial commitments.

Can Global Route tell me if I will get a visa?

No. Global Route provides general information and planning tools, not legal advice or eligibility assessments. Meeting the documented requirements does not guarantee approval — visa decisions involve factors that are not publicly documented. For a personal eligibility assessment, consult a registered immigration adviser or lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction.

Errors and feedback

How do I report an error?

Email hello@global-route.app with the pathway or country affected, what you believe is incorrect, and a link to the official source that contradicts it. We review all corrections against primary sources before making any change.

I found a requirement that is out of date. What should I do?

Report it via email with the official source link showing the updated requirement. Immigration rules change frequently — your report helps keep the data accurate for everyone.
