Iceland is a Nordic island nation with a small population and documented labour shortages in several sectors. It has two publishable pathways for Nigerian applicants: a study residence permit and a work-based residence permit.

Study residence permit

Requirements: Acceptance at a recognised Icelandic educational institution, valid passport, proof of sufficient financial means, health insurance.

Tuition fees: The University of Iceland charges approximately ISK 75,000 per semester (approximately EUR 500) for most programmes — low by international standards. Other institutions vary.

Cost of living: Iceland is expensive. Budget approximately EUR 1,500-2,000/month in Reykjavik for accommodation, food and transport.

Processing time: 1-3 months via the Directorate of Immigration.
